The Little Spanish House

The Little Spanish House is exactly that!

It is a lovely little holiday home that belongs to Su and Ian who live in Scarborough, England.

We finally settled on this little house a few years ago because it is tucked away in the heart of the village, but is accessible by car.  Restaurants, tapas bars and all sorts of shops are only a couple of minutes walk away in this white painted, cosmopolitan, yet traditional, ‘unspoilt’ mountain village of Competa, near to Malaga in Southern Spain.

The house is about 150 years old, (the village goes back to the 9th Century!), but was recently renovated to a high standard, and it is ideal for a couple wanting to get away for a break and to ‘recharge the batteries!’

Competa is halfway up the mountains of the Sierra Tejeda, in the National Park, which means the house is a great base for those visitors who want spectacular yet ‘easy’ and safe mountain walks. On a clear morning, you can see right across the Mediterranean to the Riff Mountains in Morrocco!

The house is looked after by an English friend who lives nearby.

When we fly out from Doncaster Airport, just 2 ½ hours later on arrival at Malaga Airport, a friend is waiting to drive us to the house, where we arrive less than an hour later. On return he’ll pick us up and do the return journey to the Airport.
You can of course pick up a hire-car at the Airport, if you prefer to do so we have included some directions for you to drive to the house – please ‘click’ on the ‘Directions’ Tab above!

You can hire cars in the village – the hire shop is only 5o yards away!

We can provide a welcome pack of a few essentials for your first night – tea, coffee, milk, wine etc, at a small charge.

Everything you need for a relaxing self-catering holiday break can be found at The Little Spanish House. All linen and beach towels are provided along with a hairdryer and iron.  A selection of books, DVD’s, CD’s, tapes and board games are on hand if you want them. The nearest beach is about 40 minutes drive away – or use the local Hotel’s swimming pool.
